Pear shaped Chinese turquoise pendant set by hand in sterling silver, with 2.8mm cable chain.
Turquoise has been used in jewelry as far back as 3000 BCE in Egypt, and has been found in the Americas, Persia and China as well. The word turquoise comes from a French word meaning “Turkish,” likely because the stone was introduced to Medieval Europe by Turkish sources. It is known as the birthstone for December.
These stones are evenly polished and delicately webbed with matrix.
